Sculpt Nouveau Ceramic Primer is a zero VOC, water based, acrylic primer for ceramics and other porous surfaces. As a cost saver, some artists use Ceramic Primer instead of a Metal Coating for the first saturating coat on ceramics or plaster. Ceramic Primer is only recommended for small indoor projects as it is a legacy product. For most environments, including all outdoor or high traffic areas, we recommend the stronger, zinc-rich, water based Prime-It. It delivers the highest strength and durability across all settings.
Water Based Ceramic Primer is available in 8oz., 32oz., 1 gal. sizes. One gallon generally covers 200 sq. ft. in a single coat. Two coats are recommended for most projects.
