Sculpt Nouveau Prime-It is an easy-to-use, direct to metal primer for protecting surfaces from corrosion. It is a strong, water-based acrylic with no VOCs. Prime-It has great adhesion to most surfaces, including polyurethanes, and provides excellent long-term outdoor protection. It is commonly used to protect structural metal from acidic finishes and corrosive environments.
Prime-It application is a mandatory step if you are using a reactive patina finish on the Metal Coatings. In general, we recommend Prime-It for any Metal Coating project. Prime-It also works well as its own finish and is available in many colors: black, brown, green, grey, red, rust, white and yellow.
Prime-It is sold in 8oz., 32oz., and 1 gallon sizes. One gallon covers approximately 200 sq. ft. per coat. Two coats are recommended.
